Small Work for Robot and Insects (2002)
Artist Andy Gracie experiments with communication between technological systems and natural living systems or phenomena. He explores what kind of new communication can develop between these different entities. “Small work for robot and insects” features an artificially intelligent robot which tries to establish some kind of meaningful dialogue with a colony of live crickets. The robot is able to listen intelligently to the cricket song and attempt to devise a unique language with which to communicate with them or provoke them into certain behaviours.
